Slash Burning Commences on Restoration Sites

The public is advised that crews have started burning small piles of slash on ecosystem restoration sites throughout the East Kootenay. Hand-piled slash will be burned at the following locations:

Volunteers Push Ecosystem Restoration Forward

This year saw a resurgence of an old method of stand management in the Rocky Mountain Trench. By September 25 four work bees organized by local groups will have carried out treeā€thinning operations on 40 hectares of Crown land using the labour of about 140 volunteers. These projects benefit wildlife, make for healthier grasslands and open forests, and help reduce the risk of forest fires near communities.

CBT Contributes to Three Restoration Projects
